Jim Havens honored for 50 years of service in the Crestwood Chancel Choir |
|||
During the special Anniversary Worship Service on January 25th, Jim Havens was honored for 50 years of continuous service in Crestwood's Chancel Choir.
Mr. Havens is the first "servant leader" of the congregation to be honored as part of Crestwood's 50th Anniversary Celebration. Other members of the church will be honored in the same way throughout 2009, as part of the celebration.
The Crestwood Chancel Choir began in January, 1959, when several men stepped over to sing beside the piano player. Mr. Havens was one of those men. He has been a member of the choir ever since.

"Jim Havens is truly a wonderful gift to our church! When my children were young and playing make-believe - when they wanted to be someone really important, they would 'be' Mr. Havens. I think that the children had it right...he is Mr. Crestwood! Thank you, Jim for all you have been and still are!"
