I am third: A tip of the hat to David Giacalone and the Legal Ethics Forum

[Permalink page]

This isn't the first blog devoted to legal ethics.  That distinction belongs to EthicalEsq (now named f/k/a), which David Giacalone launched back in the primordial era of lawyer blogs (mid-2003!).

This also isn't the second blog devoted to legal ethics -- although, by golly, it coulda, shoulda and woulda been if I had stopped toying around with the design and actually started posting content in the middle of last month rather than the middle of this week.  In the interim, however, the Legal Ethics Forum splashed into the blogosphere, courtesy of Professors John Dzienkowski (Texas), John Steele (Boalt Hall) and Brad Wendel (Cornell).

My only consolation is that I get to wear a t-shirt that proclaims "I Am Third," just like all the kids on my son's church basketball team.

I have not had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Giacalone or the Three Professors (not to be confused with the Three Tenors or the Three Amigos). However, it is obvious from their blogs that I am in good company.  I recommend their blogs to anyone interested in contemporary legal ethics.

And, indeed, it appears that our three blogs are going to complement each other quite nicely. My blog will be geared primarily toward practicing lawyers who want to stay abreast of important developments in the law governing lawyers; who want to stay alert to ethical issues and risk-management concerns; and who like to think about the nature of our profession, its values, its current condition and its future. I also plan to talk about the intersection between legal ethics and legal technology, which is a particular interest of mine.

I have no doubt that the field of legal ethics will provide ample grist for all three of our mills, and I am happy to be joining them along the side of this stream.
