My friend Bill Freivogel and his colleague Doug Richmond will present a KBA teleseminar on "Attorney Ethics in Negotiation" at 1:00 pm ET on Thursday, December 21, 2006.  The telephone-based program will last 60 minutes and is approved for one hour of ethics CLE credit in Kentucky.  The registration fee for KBA members is $59 per listener. I have become acquainted with both Bill and Doug through the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers (APRL), and I can tell you that they are both outstanding lawyers.

Bill is Senior Vice President for Loss Prevention at Aon Risk Services, Inc., the risk-management division of Aon Corporation, a major provider of liability insurance for lawyers and law firms.  He served on the American Law Institute’s Members’ Consultative Group for the Restatement of the Law Governing Lawyers and as a member of the Advisory Council to the American Bar Association’s Ethics 2000 Commission.  He is also the author of Freivogel on Conflicts, one of the best law-related websites on the Internet.  He  announced last week that he will be leaving Aon in early 2007 to become an independent consultant assisting law firms on ethics and professional liability matters.

Doug is presently Senior Vice President in the Professional Services Group at Aon.  His responsibilities at Aon will undoubtedly increase in the months ahead, following Bill's departure.  He has been a frequent presenter of ethics programs at national conferences of the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers and has also been published in The Professional Lawyer, the law journal of the ABA Center for Professional Responsibility.

In short, it promises to be an excellent program by two lawyers who know the subject matter as well as anyone.  For $59, it may also be the best Ethics CLE opportunity in Kentucky this year.
